On Sunday, my little black Myvi and I will be participating for the first time in the High Performance Challenge (www.hpcevents.com) in Sepang F1 Circuit organized by HPC Events. This is not a racing event however; it's an event where speed enthusiasts will test their car performance and driving skills to the limits (or somewhere near), with the help of professional instructors whom mostly consists of professional race car drivers. For this event, the organizer decided to use the full length of the track, so this should be a blast! I intend to find out how fast this little pony will go around the circuit and also the fastest speed it can go with me at the wheel. Hehehehe ...
There will be 2 sessions, the morning session and the afternoon session. I'm joining the latter which will start at around 1pm. The drivers are divided into 3 groups, according to their level of driving skills. Group 1 for first timers and beginners, Group 2 for intermediate drivers (usually drivers who had gone through Group 1 before), and Group 3 for experienced drivers (mostly consists of race car drivers and also those from Group 2 who has been given a consent by the instructor)
I, being a newbie to the event, has to join Group 1. Some of the instructors whom I knew from My-KART (a local karting club) were quite surprised to see that I registered for that group because being an avid kart driver myself; they thought I might have developed some driving skills already. But hey, this is no go-kart. It's a car and car goes bloody fast. If you inadvertently introduce your car to the wall, it will also be bloody. I don't want to take chances here.
3 days prior to the event, the organizer emailed me some documents (mostly rules of conduct, timetables, etc.) which I need to read through to get myself prepared and organized for the event.
Looking at the documents, it made me pumped up and nervous at the same time.
Can't wait for it!
Stay tuned for Part II
